Willow Brook Arabians, Inc. (WBA) was formed in March 1996 by Ken and Judy Figge. The Figge’s became interested in Arabians in 1993 after purchasing a horse for their son Austin. They continue to be WBA’s management and also own and manage a home health care business, Prairie River Home Care, Inc., with offices in Mankato, Rochester, Fairmont, Marshall, Monticello, St. Cloud and Hutchinson, Minnesota. The corporate office is located at the farm and provides services such as payroll, accounting, accounts payable, etc. for the seven branches.

Judy's educational background is in nursing and Ken is an accountant and lawyer. Their son Austin works in both companies shows in the Halter, Driving, English, Western and Hunter Pleasure divisions. Austin was named by the Arabian Horse Trust as Junior Male Showman and received the Horseman's Award for 1998. The award is to recognize individuals who have significant impact on the Arabian community and are honored for their notable talent, integrity and success.

S.A. Phoenix++++//, owned by the Figge's since 1997, is the first horse ever to repeat as halter National Champion at Canada since the rules changed. He was Unanimous all four times he has been Canadian National Champion. This magnificent gelding has earned seven National Halter Championships (four Unanimous), four Reserves and in Performance one Reserve Championship and two Top Tens with multiple Regional Championships, Reserves and Top Fives in Halter, Driving, English and Hunter Pleasure.

WBA is a full service training, boarding and breeding facility.

Dianne Margerum, the Arabian trainer, moved her training business to WBA in April 1999. Dianne trains and shows in Halter, Western Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure and English Pleasure. Dianne is one of the most talented young trainers in the Arabian horse industry. She has been training for more than ten years and has worked with some of the top trainers in the business. Her techniques combine outstanding horsemanship and training ability with a gentle approach that recognizes the inherent intelligence of the Arabian horse. Her business practices are grounded in hard work, honesty and a candid evaluation of the horse's potential. She encourages owner participation and is especially effective with young riders. Her recent show successes include in Halter, three National Championships, seven Top Tens and multiple Regional Championships, Reserves and Top 5’s; in Performance, two Regional Championships, eight Reserves and 13 Top 5’s.

Willow Brook Arabians is located on 63 acres adjacent to Highway 25 and the North Fork of the Crow River about mid-way between Buffalo and Delano, Minnesota. It is approximately 34 miles west of downtown Minneapolis. The directions from Minneapolis are to go West on Interstate 394, which turns into Highway 12 in Wayzata. Highway 12 goes through Long Lake, Maple Plain and Delano. About five miles West of Delano, go North on Highway 25 about one and one half miles. WBA is on the East side of the road at mile marker 52.

WBA training facility includes an indoor heated arena, 72 x 165 ft., with a viewing area, mirrors, lounge, kitchenette and business office. Three heated barns are connected to the arena. The new barn houses 35 box stalls, tack room, two wash and two groom stalls. There are 18 box stalls in the lower barn along with a wash stall and a tack room. The mare breeding barn consists of five stalls, stocks and vet/laboratory room. All the barns have automatic waterers and fly systems. A second indoor heated training arena, 50 x 92 ft., contains a 40 ft. round pen, hot walker and breeding dummy. The stalls have video cameras for monitoring mares and foals. An outdoor riding arena approximately 60 x 150 ft. is also available.

Description

Show Fee: Shows are billed at a flat rate per horse. Price varies according to the show with consideration for the show attended, distance and time away from WBA and the aggregate number of client’s horses expected to attend. The show fee includes trainer presentation and/or coaching, sponsor/patron fees, tack, groom and/or dressing stalls, electrolytes, grooming supplies, horse class preparation, cotton leg wraps, management of horses and stalls, and management of stall decorations. Also included are accommodations and expenses for WBA staff. Not included in the flat fee are special supplies or requests, show vet and farrier needs, class entry fees, stall and office fees, bedding and transportation. Horses shown by WBA must be transported by WBA. Stall reservations, class entries and special office fees required by the show will be completed and billed to the client by WBA or paid directly to the show office by the client.

Other Show Fees:

Road Fee - A daily fee charged for shows where farm personnel will be away from the farm for more than four consecutive days. This fee is for the extra time and expense associated with longer shows.

Bedding - Bedding supplied by the showground when attending show.

Transportation - Billed round trip from WBA per mile with a minimum per occurrence.

Amateur Video - An amateur video of your horse’s class or classes may be taped at certain shows. Inform WBA of these requests in advance of the show if possible.

Special requests - Special needs or requests can be arranged by private treaty. Inform management of these requests.
